Longhouse. Dimensions: 27.5 x 4m. Rectangular structure, the W range associated with Kirkfield Steading which is still occupied. Orientation NNW-SSE.

A farmstead comprising six roofed buildings, of which four are arranged around a courtyard and three of these are long buildings, one unroofed building and associated enclosures is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xii). At least two roofed buildings are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10560 map (1970).
