What may be a shieling-hut is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Sutherland 1878, sheet xvi). It is not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10,560 map (1961).
Information from RCAHMS (FO) 10 August 1995.
The site was visited and photographed by D Glass in May 2013. the site was described as:
"A group of shieling huts is situated in an area of rock outcrops and boulders on the north side of the Alltan Dubh.
Structure A at ND54313 61457 measures 8m by 4m externally and has two compartments. The south wall is a natural boulder.
Structure B at NC54384 61457 measures 9m by 3m externally and has two compartments. Walls stand to 0.5m.
Structure C at NC54395 61481 measures 4m by 4m and incorporates natural boulders in its walls.
In addition there are three other possible small buildings among the rocks but the remains are insufficiently distinct to be identified with certainity as man-made structures." <1>
