Full Description
Along outside of N wall of a ruined croft-house, collapse has exposed for a length of 2.7m a subterranean stone-lined passage, 0.8m average width. A square-ended E terminal is evident in the structure. At W end of the collapsed stretch, the feature starts to descend under a lintelled roof, but at this point becomes flooded and nothing further can be seen. This may be a souterrain.
Visited by OS (J M) 9 December 1982.
This site has been identified as a pit for a small undershot water-wheel which probably drove the threshing machine in the adjacent barn. See associated documents.
