An Archaeological Survey of the townships of North & South Screapadal, with a survey of the surrounding area, on Raasay was undertaken by ACFA in 1997.

A well preserved, sub-circular enclosure with a maximum diameter of 11m lies abutting the firebreak on a natural raised outcrop. The wall is irregularly built reaching a width of 1.5m in places and a standing height of 1.3m. There is no apparent entrance. At the north west arc is a small pen, which looks as though it may have been built tied into the original enclosure. It measures 2.5m by 0.8m with an entrance at the north end. Martin Wildgoose suggested this feature may have been the kale yard for feature 16 which is some 100m to the west, however the presence of the elliptical pen suggests a stock enclosure with a lambing pen attached.
