Full Description

Four modern structures and sheep pens lie on the site of Wester Broulin farm. None of these are shown on the 1883 OS map. A sheepfold is shown where two of the buildings now stand. The two buildings at NH 235 386 are the remains of Braulin Lodge, still standing in 1883. It was surrounded by a wooded enclosure only part of which still survives. Seven acres of arable were farmed in 1758. It was converted to a sheep farm at least by 1824 and possibly as early as 1806. Five houses are recorded on Roy's survey at Browling.
