This site was visited by R. Spencer-Jones and S. North of NoSAS in March 2025.

A 1757 map describes "a fine shieling called Neattie", associated with four buildings, on ground just north of the Neaty Burn. This flat area by the burn is now defined to the north by a hill track going to a small hydroelectric scheme further up the Neaty Burn, and the burn itself to the south. The indistinct but definite remains of a rectangular building, orientated west-east, can be seen 10m south of the track. The shape of the building is identified by a slight platform with walls up to 0.3m, covered in heather and reeds interspersed with stones. The second buiilding associated with this on the map cannot now be identified. <2>
