Full Description

The site was found in 1995 during a survey by the Tain Archaeological Group. Well-preserved hut circle of 9.8m diameter with entrance to E. Linked to one of several subrectangular enclosures to the south-southwest (see MHG44738). <1>

A walkover survey and desk-based assessment was undertaken by A Coombs at Dalnamein for the Sutherland Longhouse Project, a community engagement project hosted by Historylinks Museum, Dornoch in 2000.

Site 14: A round house with SE-facing entrance. Some visible inner wall face. The walls are up to 2m wide with a further 1m tumble. The walls are up to 0.6m high. There may be a wall extending south to the west of the entrance. <2>

The feature is visible in vertical aerial photographs taken in 2020 and 2023. <3> <4>
