Full Description
NH18NE 8 174 852.
On the west side of Loch Broom in the area between NH 169 860 (see NH18NE 32) and NH 174 852, (Visible on APs RAF CPE/Scot/321:3299-3300) there is a depopulated settlement, name unknown, comprising the remains of 6 dry-stone buildings, max ht. 1m, and several field banks and enclosures, max ht. 1.3m. The settlement lies on a very steep slope, impossible to cultivate, and it is probable that they derived their living from fishing (See NH18NE 2).
Visited by OS (N K B) 19 October 1964.
A farmstead, comprising two unroofed buildings and one unroofed structure, and a field-system are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire & Cromartyshire 1881, sheet xxxv). Three unroofed buildings and some lengths of field wall are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10560 map (1969).
