Full Description
NC92SW 43 9030 2390.
Situated on a knoll to the N of the Allt an Fhionnfhuaraidh, there are two buildings, set parallel to one another and aligned E-W, and a kiln-barn. The buildings are depicted as unroofed on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Sutherland 1871, sheet lxvii). The N building is of at least two compartments and has an external drain on the N; the S building, which is overlain by a stone-walled sheepfold, is also of two compartments. The kiln-barn lies to the SW of the S building, at the foot of the knoll, and measures 8.3m from ENE to WSW by 4.2m overall with a well-defined bowl (1.2m in diameter and 0.8m deep) let into the foot of the knoll. Surrounding the farmstead there are the remains of a multi-period field-system, comprising field-banks, plots, and rig, the latest element of which is a major field-bank running NW from the burn before turning down slope to the SW.
