Full Description
A group of three probable pre-Clearance buildings ranging in size from 4.0m by 4.0m to 15.0m by 5.0m; the latter stands up to 1.5m high. Associated small enclosures and field walls are in the vicinity. About 150.0m N, on the shore, is a mortared long-house which may have succeeded the above structures. It is 11.0m by 5.0m and stands up to 1.8m high. A contemporary small footing is adjacent. Some of the nearby drystone walling is not contemporary, having been erected in connection with the modern wooden bungalow now also occupying the site.
Visited by OS (JB) 13 August 1980.
Four roofed and two unroofed buildings, two of which lie adjacent to one an other on the line of a head-dyke, are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Sutherland 1878, sheet xlix). Five unroofed buildings, one of which has two compartments, are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10,000 map (1990).
