Full Description
At NC 1628 4414, on the NW bank of a stream, adjacent to hut circle settlements and field systems (NC14SE 8 & 10) is a U-shaped burnt mound, 9.5m by 7.5m across and 1.2m high, the open end facing onto the stream. It is completely peat-blanketed, but probing reveals friable fragments of heat-stained stone.
Surveyed at 1:10,000.
Visited by OS (J M) 20 May 1980.
Site 8: A burnt mound was recorded during a pre-afforestation survey of Scourie and Badcall common grazings and is located on the west side of AlIt Loch Leathad nan Cruineachd, 100 m north-east of Loch Leathad nan Cruineachd (Plate 4). The mound is U-shaped, 7.5 m by 9.5 m and 1.3 m high, with the open end facing the stream. It is covered in peat and heather. <1>
