Full Description

NC14SE 14 166 429.

Centred at NC 166 429, on a sheltered SE-facing slope in a rocky area, are two hut circles and associated field clearance heaps.
The first, at NC 1666 4290, is below a small crag and covered by thick peat. Internally the hut measures 7.5m NW-SE by 6.0m. Generally the wall is poorly defined except at the entrance, in the SE, where it is spread to 1.0m and is 0.5m high.
The second hut, at NC 1664 4288, is very ill-defined. It measures 8.5m NW-SE by 7.5m within a wall, totally covered by peat and heather, now spread to 1.5m and 0.2m high. The entrance is in the SE, well-defined on each side by stones. The hut interior has been dug out, presumably for peat.
About half a dozen clearance heaps lie in a small area SE of the huts; no plots are visible. A wasted rubble wall running down the slope immediately SW of the heaps is of uncertain association.
Surveyed at 1:10,000.
Visited by OS (J B) 19 June 1980.
