OS 6"map, (1961)

Of 2 published cairns (OS {A C} 3 June 1959), 'A', the more northerly, is burnt mound situated by old stream course on edge of a minor field system (see NC44NE 2), and 'B' is a clearance heap, one of several within the field system. The burnt mound is oval, measuring 9.5 m E-W by 9m N-S, with twin summits 1.2 m high separated by a central depression running N-S. One or two large unburnt stones protruding through the turf in the central depression, though conforming to no identifiable pattern, may be the vestiges of a stone-lined trough or hearth. The mound content of heat-stained friable stones is exposed in its edge.
Revised at 1:10,000. Visited by OS (N K B) 9 November 1978.
