Full Description
NC64SW 1 631 423.
NC 6311 4236. A disturbed area of turf-covered stones, about 11.5m in diameter and 0.4m high, was discovered during field investigation, on top of a small knoll about 30m SE of the sheepfold at NC 6308 4237. There are one or two stones which could be kerb stones, but it is not possible to determine if this is the remains of a cairn or a field clearance heap.
This is the turf and stone footing, 7.0m by 3.0m of a shieling above the E bank of Allt Bad na Gallaig; it occupies the S end of a low embanked enclosure 14.0m by 11.0m. Across the stream from it, and further up on both sides, are ten similar footings ranging from 4.0m by 3.0m to 7.0m by 3.0m. Several show appreciable stone; others appear as little more than level grassy stances.
Surveyed at 1:10,000.
Visited by OS (J M) 27 July 1978.
