(NC 6696 3607) Enclosure (NR)
OS 6"map, (1963)

Situated on sloping ground is an irregular-shaped enclosure and a smaller one attached to its west side.
Visited by OS (J M) 16 March 1977.

At NC 6695 3607, on a low rounded ridge falling away to the south, is a hut circle in association with two sub-oval enclosures and a minor field system. The hut is 8.0 by 7.0m internally; the wall, turf-covered, is reduced to 0.2m high with a main spread 1.5m broad increasing to 2.0m at an entrance, on the line of the longer axis, in the SE. One of the enclosures is at the east side of the hut and abuts on it; it measures about 33.0m N-S by 22.0m. The other enclosure, newly recognised at NC 6695 3588, lies on the slope and measures about 32.0m E-W by 28.0m. The walls of both are tumbled and overgrown. The minor field system extends over about 1.5 hectares and is indicated by some stone clearance heaps, spaced at closest 15.0m apart, and by occasional rickles of stone clearance; measurable cultivation plots are not discernible.
Revised at 1/10,000.
Visited by OS (J M) 16 March 1977.

The site was visited and photographed by D Glass on the 25th of May 2013. A small cairn was noted to one side of the hut circle which was not mentioned in the 1977 visit so may be a recent development. The centre of the hut circle was noted as NC66972 36043.
