OS 6"map, (1963)

(NC 6645 3535) Tumuli (NR).
OS 6"map, Sutherlandshire, 2nd ed., (1906)

An enclosure (A) and the possible remains of another (B), each overlaid by field clearance, were discovered during field investigation.
Visited by OS (J L D) 11 May 1961.

The "enclosures" found by the previous field investigator are in fact hut circles situated within a later enclosed field containing run-rig (see NC63NE 39). Hut 'A' is about 10.5m in diameter within a wall obscured by later clearance. The entrance appears to have been in the east arc. In the NE of the interior are the footings of a bothy or sheiling, 4.0m by 2.5m. 'B' is even more vague, about 9.0m internal diameter, overlaid by a pile of bare stones in the WNW segment. The "tumuli" published on OS 6"map, (1906) presumably refer to the heaps of stones on the huts; there are sporadic mounds of clearance along the slopes to the NW of the huts.
Revised at 1:10,000
Visited by OS (N K B) 20 May 1977.
