(NC 6530 3877) Enclosure (NR)
OS 6"map, (1963)

An enclosure, discovered during field investigation (OS {E G C}) situated on a S-facing hillslope above a deserted 18th - 19th century township. It measures 10.5m in diameter within a turf bank, spread to 2.0m wide and 0.2m high, the green and fresh appearance of which contrasts with the heather cover outside and in the interior. The bank presents a uniform appearance with no evidence of an entrance, and only two or three stones can be seen. There are no traces of a field system. The fresh appearance and absence of an entrance or quantity of stone in the wall construction suggest that this feature is more likely to be a post-Clearances, turf-built sheepfold rather than a hut circle.
Revised at 1:10,000.
Visited by OS (E G C) 8 May 1961 and (J M) 15 March 1977.
