(NC 6709 3645) Enclosures (NR) (one of two shown)
OS 6"map, (1963)

In rising ground of easterly aspect is a stone-walled construction. Visited by OS (E G C) 6 May 1961.

This is a homestead composing a hut-circle set concentrically within an enclosure. Associated cultivation is confined to sporadic mounds of field clearance round about, but narrow-rig intrudes. The hut is 13.5m internal diameter, and the entrance is from the ESE; its wall, substantially of bare stone, is 0.4m high and spread 1.5m broad showing intermittently an inner facing of earthfast boulder slabs. The enclosure is about 24.5m diameter within a less definite, partly turf-covered wall, 0.4m high at best and spread on average 2.0m broad; there is an entrance opposing the hut entrance, and in the NW a break that may indicate another. Between the walls, in the south half, and impinging on them, are two ill-defined sub-rectangular footings, 7.0 by 5.5m and 9.0 by 3.5m, which are probably later intrusions. In the north are faint traces of a radial wall between the hut and enclosure.
Revised at 1/10,000.
Visited by OS (J M) 16 March 1977.
