Full Description

(NC 5236 3670) Old Sheepfold (NAT)
OS 6" map (1963)

This is a hut circle, situated on a rise in open moorland and measuring 8.5m in diameter within a wall spread to 2.0m and 0.2m high, which widens to 3.0m on either side of a clubbed entrance in the S arc. In the hut interior is a mound, 1.5m in diameter by 0.2m high with no stone visible; it is probably the result of localised peat accumulation.
Close by the hut, a scatter of about five stony mounds denote associated field clearance. There are no discernible plots.
Revised at 1:10,000.
Visited by OS (JM) 26 June 1980

The feature is visible in vertical aerial photography taken in 2009. <1>
