Full Description

A number of banks and possible small cairns are visible on the 'beach' of Loch Shin to the S and SE of a tree-covered knoll. The banks which run from the higher ground into the Loch, average about 3m thick and are composed entirely of stone. The possible small cairns are difficult to differentiate from natural outcrops although a number are reasonably defined discrete heaps. In at least one instance a bank appears to define a cleared area which may have been a field. Lines of peat drainage ditches are visible in the ground surface, the peat having been eroded by the Loch.
