Full Description
Centred on NC 630 058 on a SE - facing hillslope are three hut circles ('A' - 'C') and an associated field system.
Hut 'A', set into the slope in the N, is thickly covered by peat. It measures 9.0m ESE-WNW by 6.5m within a wall spread to 3.0m and 0.6m high internally. The wall-spread extends to 3.5m at the entrance in the ESE. 'B' is less well-defined than 'A', the N side having been disfigured by a sheep track. It measures 7.5m in diameter within a wall which is spread to 2.0m and 0.3m high internally in the S; a few outer facing stones are evident in this arc. The entrance is in the E.
Hut 'C' is even less well-defined. The wall survives as a faint heather-covered band 1.5m wide; the area enclosed is about 8.0m internal diameter. The simple entrance is in the SE.
The field system of about five hectares, defined by scattered clearance heaps and occasional stony lynchets, occurs in the vicinity of the huts and to the east. No measurable plots are evident.
Surveyed at 1:10,000.
Visited by OS (J B) 20 October 1980.
