Full Description

NC60NW 30 632 056

Centred on NC 632 056, on a steep SE - facing hillside, is a group of three hut circles ('A' - 'C'). Huts 'A' and 'B' appear to be of similar construction where as the remains of 'C' are much slighter.
'A', set into the slope is obscured by thick bracken and heather. It measures 10.5m in diameter within a wall spread from 2.0m - 2.5m and 0.4m high internally. The wall marginally thickens at the entrance in the SSE.
'B' is obscured by vegetation in the same manner. It has been built onto the hillside and measures 9.0m SE-NW by 8.5m within a wall spread to 3.0m and 0.4m high. The entrance is in the SE where the wall width expands to 4.0m - 5.0m. There is a later depression abutting the wall internally in the east with an adjacent spoil heap.
'C' is heather-covered and measures 6.0m N-S by 5.5m within a wall spread to 2.0m and 0.2m average height. The simple entrance is in the S. Approximately 90.0m NW of hut 'B' occurs a most indistinct oval shelf 7.0m by 6.0m. It is possibly the remains of a further hut or equally likely a natural phenomenon; there is no evidence of walling.
No field clearance exists in the vicinity; a small unenclosed plot occurs adjacent to 'C' on its SE side.
Surveyed at 1:10 000.
Visited by OS (J B) 9 October 1980.
