(NC 4724 6101) Hut Circle (NR), (NC 4728 6076) Hut Circle (NR)
OS 6"map, (1961)

Two hut circles are situated on the W bank of the River Hope, at about 100 ft OD.
The northernmost (NC 4724 6101) is formed by an earthen bank spread to a width of 3.0m with a maximum height of 0.5m in the W segment. It measures 22.3m N-S by 10.4m transversely. The W segment is slightly scooped into the rising ground behind and the bank is considerably mutilated in the S segment. The entrance is possibly in the SE.
The other (NC 4728 6076) is situated on a level area above a small pond and measures 11.8m N-S by 11.4m transversely. It is formed by a very slight bank of earth (0.2m high) which appears to have been made by scooping from inside the enclosure. The entrance is possibly in the SE. Visited by OS (W D J) 21 April 1960.

The hut circles, each measuring 11m from NW to SE by 9m with their entrances in SE, are generally as described by the previous OS field investigator. They are so obscured by peat and heather that little stone is visible in the wall construction. There is no evidence of contemporary cultivation in the surrounding moorland.
Visited by OS (N K B) 28 November 1978.
