Full Description
NC46SE 11 4541 6054.
High on a sheltered natural shelf are the footings of a sub-oval stone-built structure of uncertain period. It measures about 10m E-W by 5.2m transversely within a wall about 1.1m wide which apparently expands to about 1.8m at the entrance at the shorter E end. A number of large stones on edge are visible defining both inner and outer wall faces; this mode of construction commonly occurs in the walls of hut circles. There is no trace of associated cultivation in the vicinity. The scale and general appearance of this structure suggests a dwelling of some antiquity (see NC46SE 9 for a similar structure).
Visited by OS (N K B) 29 April 1980.
