Full Description

NC45SW 6 4190 5498

NC 4190 5500. An oblong house with parallel sides and rounded ends set on crest of a ridge. There may be an outer terrace wall at the W end.
Info contained in letter and field notes from K Reid 25 September 1978.

on exposed NW end of a prominent ridge, is a rectangular building, 7.5m by 2.5m internally within the footings of a wall 0.8m thick and 0.6m high. It is unusual in that the wall faces, particularly the inner, incporated large slabs on edge in the construction. The building lies within the remains of an enclosure, 15.0m in diameter, which is of similar construction and state of preservation, and therefore probably contemporary. The upright stones of the enclosure wall where visible are inclined outward, and as such bear a marked resemblance to the kerb of a cairn, though no cairn rubble is evident.
Surveyed at 1:10,000. Visited by OS (N K B) 27 November 1978.
