Full Description

NC50NE 52 5964 0647.

At NC 5964 0647 on the end of a spur overlooking a SW-facing slope, and 30m SW of a chambered cairn (NC50NE 36), are the possible remains of a cairn or hut circle. It is a flat-topped, turf-covered mound of earth and stones; its precise size and shape are difficult to determine as it is mutilated by quarrying and later structures in and around it, but it appears to have been about 23.0m NE-SW by 18.0m transversely, and survives to a maximum height of 0.8m. There is no trace of a kerb or internal construction. The siting position is marginally favourable towards this being a cairn.
Surveyed at 1:2500.
Visited by OS (N K B) 27 July 1976 and (J M) 11 June 1981.
