Full Description

NH79NE 29 7518 9753.

At NH 7518 9753 is a structure which is possibly a mutilated hut circle, or a pound associated with a depopulated house some 20m to the SW.
It consists of a circular depression surrounded by a stone wall, destroyed in the SE, which is spread to about 2.0m and measures about 10.0m in diameter between centres. Some inner and outer facing-stones are visible. No entrance is evident.
Visited by OS (A A) 25 November 1969.

Despite the close proximity of this circular structure to the ruins of a house deserted in the 18th/19th century, there is little doubt that it is a hut circle, based on its size, condition, and double-wall construction. The gap in the SE indicates a destroyed entrance.
Almost contiguous to the NE is another hut circle in a similar state of preservation. It measures 9.0m NW-SE by 7.5m transversely within a heather-covered wall spread to 2.0m and surviving to a maximum height of 0.4m. A mutilated gap in the SE marks the entrance. There is no trace of associated land use.
Surveyed at 1:10,000.
Visited by OS (N K B) 11 June 1981.
