Full Description
There is a possible souterrain at Dalnamain. There appears to be the outline of a passage, and lintel stones in position can be seen.
Information contained in letter from Elizabeth R Mackay, Tigh Beag, Rearquhar, Dornoch, IV25 3NE, to OS.
This would appear to be a well-preserved kiln-barn of pre-1811 date and associated with the depopulation around.

A walkover survey and desk-based assessment was undertaken by A Coombs at Dalnamein for the Sutherland Longhouse Project, a community engagement project hosted by Historylinks Museum, Dornoch in 2019-20.
Site 19: Corn kiln built into the rocky knoll to the NW. The bowl survives well and has the flue lintel in place on the NE side. The attached kiln barn walls survive to 0.65m and have a SW-facing entrance.
