Full Description

NC73SW 16 7106 3414.

At NC 7106 3414 on a SE-facing slope is an oval stone-walled enclosure built onto the slope in the E. It measures 9.6m N-S by 7.5m bounded by fragments of a mutilated boulder-faced wall of indeterminate thickness. Stones from this wall lie strewn within the enclosure; at the N and S ends later shelters or shielings appear to have been constructed. The entance to the enclosure was not located.
This may have been a hut circle but mutilation has made positive classification uncertain. There are no traces of cultivation in the immediate vicinity.
This enclosure closely resembles the "'U' platform" noted by the Dept of Environment at NC 719 347 (See NC73SW 10), and as nothing was located there it is presumably one and the same feature.
Surveyed at 1:10 000.
Information from MS, A Field Survey in the Loch Rimsdale Area, June 1975, site ref 10, illust (see archive); Visited by OS (J B) 6 April 1977.
