Full Description
Centred : NC 882 017. On a turf-covered raised beach is an area of disturbed ground in which traces of structures are visible as low swellings overgrown with turf. No pattern is evident.
Amongst these structures are at least six low, amorphous mounds, 0.2m maximum height; mole burrowing indicates a content of edible molluscs and blackened earth but no animal bones can be seen. These may be shell middens but, alternatively, the shells may have been collected fairly recently to spread on the ground to increase the lime content.
No dateable finds can be found and there is no local knowledge concerning the site.
Visited by OS (N K B) 29 January 1976.
