Full Description
On a shelf in a generally SW-facing slope is a settlement of three oval stone-walled huts ('A' - 'C') within an associated field system.
'A' is the best-preserved, measuring internally 10.2m NW-SE by 9m NE-SW within an unusually narrow wall, 1.1m thick and 0.3m high, broadening to 2m at the entrance in SE are. There is a distinct splay from about 0.8m internally to 1.3m wide externally at the entrance. Occasional inner and outer facing stones are apparent.
'B', of different character to A, measures internally about 6m NW-SE by 5m NE-SW within a low heather-covered wall spread to 1.5m broad. Entrance is in SE, but all other details are obscured.
'C' measures internally 9m NW-SE by 7.5m NE-SW within a wall 0.5m high spread to 2.5m broad all round. Entrance is in SE arc.
The well-defined field system, occupying five hectares of open moorland, comprises numerous field plots, average size 40m by 30m, delineated by stone clearance heaps and lynchets with occasional low heather-covered field walls visible.
