Full Description

A hut circle near Loch Brora. See MHG40440 for the possily field system.

NC 8616 0671. Situated on a low rise is a stone-walled hut, measuring 10.5m N-S by 9.5m E-W between the centres of a wall spread to 2.0m thickness but widening to about 3.0m at the entrance in the S arc. Occasional outer facing stones are visible.
A few stone clearance heaps occur near the hut, but to the S of the hut, centred at NC 863 064, is an extensive well-preserved field system which is probably associated with the hut.
Cultivation plots demarcated by lynchets, ruined field walls and stone clearance heaps can be seen.
Surveyed at 1:10,560.
Visited by OS (N K B) 18 December 1975.

The site is visible in vertical aerial photography. <1> <2>
