Full Description
On E-facing, gently sloping ground adjacent to hut circles (ND 06 SW 39) is a turf-covered mound about 8.5m in diameter and 0.6m high. The curve of the mound is slightly flattened on E side. A few friable stones are evident at the bottom of the mound, and on the top there are indications of a curving, narrow, stony bank with unburnt stones evident. A slab on edge, 0.6m by 0.2m and 0.35m high protrudes through the turf on N side. These characteristics of mound appear to contradict suggestions of a burnt mound or a cairn. Although uncertain, a burnt mound appears to be the most likely classification.
Surveyed at 1:2500 and 1:10,000. Visited by OS (JB) 20 10 1981.
