Full Description

A hut circle on Caen Hill. Originally recorded by the OS as hut circle 'A'. See MHG63858 for hut circle 'B'.

A: ND 0211 1773: B: ND 0207 1779.
On a gently shelving terrace in a steep SW-facing slope are two heather and bracken-covered hut circles levelled into the slope. The huts are broadly similar in size and construction, measuring 9.5m (A) and 11.5m (B) internal diameter within a tumbled stone wall spread to 2.5m thick. Part of the inner wall face of slabs on edge is visible in hut A. The NW quarter of hut B is disturbed. The entrance in each case is in the SSE arc. About six stone clearance heaps occur on the terrace close by the huts, but no plots are discernible.
Surveyed at 1:2500. Visited by OS (N K B) 21 October 1976.

The site is very clear in SEPA LiDAR. <1>
