EHG4634 - Watching Brief - Stain, Keiss
Technique(s)
Organisation
North Highland Archaeology
Date
April 1999
Description
An archaeological watching brief was conducted by North Highland Archaeology in 1999 at Stain, Keiss, on works to excavate the foundations of a private house development. The topsoil was machine excavated to a depth of 0.4m. Nothing of archaeological significance was observed. <1>
Note: the machine excavation stopped at the level of the underlying sand. As has been seen elsewhere along this stretch of coast, cist burials have been found within and beneath the sand of this extensive sand ridge so it is possible that burials may still lie within the development footprint and original application area [IS-L 25/05/2023].
